ParaTRAX

Accessible Transportation for Eligible Riders

TakeTRAX is committed to providing accessible transportation services that help individuals maintain their independence and stay connected to the community. ParaTRAX is an ADA complementary paratransit service designed for eligible individuals whose disabilities prevent them from using the regular fixed-route TRAX bus service.

This shared-ride, reservation-based service provides transportation throughout the ParaTRAX service area, helping riders access healthcare, shopping, employment, community resources, and other important destinations.

Who May Qualify for ADA Services?

ParaTRAX is designed for individuals whose disability or medical condition prevents them from independently using the fixed-route TRAX bus system. Eligibility is determined through the ADA certification process and may apply to riders with a variety of mobility, sensory, cognitive, or developmental limitations.

Examples may include individuals who:

Difficulty Traveling to a Bus Stop
Individuals who are unable to safely travel to or from a designated bus stop due to a physical disability or medical condition.
Visual Impairments
Individuals with vision impairments that make it difficult to independently navigate routes, identify bus stops, or safely use fixed-route transit services.
Cognitive or Developmental Disabilities
Individuals who may have difficulty understanding transit directions, recognizing destinations, or independently navigating the transit system.
Limited Mobility
Individuals who cannot safely board, ride, or exit a fixed-route bus without assistance due to mobility limitations.
Inability to Wait at a Bus Stop
Individuals whose medical condition or disability prevents them from comfortably or safely waiting at a bus stop for an extended period of time.
Challenges Managing Transit Tasks
Individuals who are unable to independently identify buses, understand route information, manage fares, or complete other tasks required to use fixed-route transit services.

ParaTRAX

Scheduling a Ride

Advance reservations are required for all ParaTRAX trips.

To help us provide efficient service for all riders:
Pick-up and return trips must be scheduled at the same time
Same-day service may be available for an additional fee
Rides are shared with other passengers, which may increase travel times
Riders should have their ADA identification card available when boarding
Schedule your final trip of the day at least 30 minutes before the end of service hours.

Monday-Friday: 7am to 6pm
Saturday: 9am to 3pm
